Chinese foreign Minister may visit India next week
In a bid to defuse tension between India and Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi may visit India next week.
On Yang’s arrival, India is expected to provide evidence of Pakistani element’s involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks.
Yang Jiechi will also hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee on the latest developments in Indo-Pak relations trying calm down the things between two neighbours.
Pranab Mukharjee had spoken with Yang last month and urging him to pressurise Pakistan to arrest the culprits of the Mumbai terror attacks.
Gong Li renounces Chinese citizenship to become Singapores citizen
Chinese actress Gong Li has made headlines after she renounced her Chinese citizenship to become a citizen of Singapore.
Her move has caused a big scandal, and created much interest on the Internet in China.
Li will be moving on to her tobacco-tycoon husband’s homeland though without the blessings of her fans.
As reported by Post film editor V.A. Musetto, bloggers are branding the 42-year-old “Miami Vice” star a traitor and calling for a boycott of her films.
“All traitors will be nailed to history''s mast of shame,” the New York Post quoted one angry ex-fan as saying. (ANI)
China pledges to help Pak overcome its economic woes
China on Thursday pledged to help Pakistan overcome its current economic woes, a day after both countries clinched agreements aimed at boosting Beijing''s involvement in the Pakistan economy.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao told Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and his delegation that China is ready to advance strategic cooperation with Pakistan.
According to Xinhua, China’s official news agency, Wen pledged to overcome Pakistan''s economic problems, but did not specify what type of aid China would provide.
India bans Chinese dairy products
India has banned import of dairy products, including milk, from China for three months following reports of deaths due to contamination in whitener in the neighbouring country.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued a notification prohibiting import of dairy products (including milk) from China with immediate effect and until further orders.
According to reports, at least four infants died in China after consuming the contaminated milk.
India-Russia-China to enhance trilateral cooperation on public health and medicine
India, Russia and China have agreed in principle, that a working mechanism was needed to facilitate cooperation in the field of health and medicine here today.
The three sides exchanged views on the working mechanism proposed by China. It was decided to hold internal consultations on formalizing a cooperation mechanism to take forward collaboration in identified areas.
Each side will be designated a focal point in the near future for coordination in this regard.

Poisoned milk traced to dairy farmers in China
Beijing, Sept 13 (ANI): Unlawful dairy farmers supplying defective fresh milk are to blame for the contamination of the milk powder from Sanlu Group that has caused the death of one Chinese baby and kidney stones in about 140 others.
According to the China Daily, an announcement from the government of Shijiazhuang, where Sanlu is based, said an initial investigation had shown some milk providers had added an industrial contaminant, melamine, to diluted milk to boost their profits.
