Criminals’ ‘sticky fingers’ on metal may lead to their detection
Washington, September 16 (ANI): A new study has suggested that criminals who eat processed foods have ‘sticky fingers’, and are more likely to be discovered by police through their sweaty fingerprints, which are more likely to corrode metal.
The study has been carried out by Dr. John Bond of Northamptonshire Police Scientific Support and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Leicester’s Forensic Research Center.
Little-known intestinal bacterium may be emerging as next deadly superbug
Washington, September 16 (ANI): A virulent strain of the common intestinal bacterium Clostridium difficile (C-diff) is emerging as a deadly superbug, warn physicians.
Doctors at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine says that the NAP1 type of the bacterium is currently plaguing hospitals.
They say that it rivals the superbug Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) as one of the top emerging disease threats to humans.
Britney and Timberlake’s ‘similarities led to their break-up’
Washington, September 15 (ANI): Britney Spears’ mum, Lynne has revealed that she was shattered after learning about her daughter’s break-up with Justin Timberlake, branding the split "terrible."
Writing in her upcoming book “Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World”, Lynn insists that it was, perhaps, a clash of personalities that led to their split.

Washington, Sept.15 (ANI): Karl Rove, the man credited with getting President Bush elected twice, has warned both Democrats and Republicans that they are making a mistake by using advertising to attack their respective candidates.
Political strategist Karl Rove said Obama may not have consciously wanted to attribute Palin with porcine traits when he used the “lipstick on a pig” analogy to describe the McCain campaign’s policies, but it sure looked like “a deliberate slap” at the Alaska governor.
New vaccine offers protection against breast cancer
Washington, Sept 15 (ANI): Researchers from Wayne State University have developed and successfully tested a breast cancer vaccine that shows promise to treat women with treatment-resistant HER2-positive breast cancer, and prevent cancer recurrence.
They hope that the HER2 DNA vaccines might potentially be used in cancer-free women to prevent initial development of such tumours.
Cheap osteoporosis prevention drug may be available in 2yrs
London, September 15 (ANI): Having shown that a new cheap drug called Denosumab can significantly help ease the symptoms of the crippling bone disorder osteoporosis, scientists are hoping that the revolutionary medication will be available in markets in two years.
The drug, whose introduction would cost 50 to 80 pounds per year per person, may also help save the NHS hundreds of millions of pounds.
During the tests, it was found to help regrow bones, halve the number of hip fractures, and reduce spine fractures by almost two-thirds in the 8,000 postmenopausal women.
Treating common brain cancer as two diseases could help improve cure
London, September 15 (ANI): Genetic studies conducted on patients with glioblastoma, the most common type of brain cancer, in America suggest that this disease should be treated as two disease not one.
Victor Velculescu of the Ludwig Center for Cancer Genetics and Therapeutics in Baltimore, Maryland, says that glioblastoma patients whose cancers carry a mutation in a gene called IDH1 are 20 years younger than those without the mutation, on average.
The study has revealed that cancers carrying the mutation are less aggressive, the researcher says.
Ronaldo says fans will love him again when he plays for Man U
London, Sept 15 (ANI): Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is sure he will get a hero’s welcome from his fans when he dons the Man U jersey in the Champions League clash on Wednesday.
It would be Ronaldo’s first club game since he tried and failed to engineer a move to Real Madrid.
The star, who has now fully recovered from ankle surgery, said: “When I put on the shirt, I give it my all. I’m already in the history of the club. When I play, the fans will love me again.”

Melbourne, Sep 15 (ANI): After flirting with pop diva Britney Spears during the VMA’s, Comedian Russell Brand has reportedly split with Aussie girlfriend Teresa Palmer in order to pursue Spears.
It has also been alleged that Brand and the ‘Hit Me One More Time’ hitmaker continued flirting even after the camera’s stopped rolling at the VMA’s.
Apparently, the two of them had an intimate dinner together at Hollywood''s Little Red Door restaurant, as they were seen arriving and leaving at the same time.
They, however, left separately to avoid being photographed together.
